Pink Flamingo return to host stage at The Broadway pub

Passionately booking acts that write their own music since its inception in 2007, Southend promotors Pink Flamingo live by the motto: “if everyone wanted to listen to music they already know, we would be listening to two sticks being smashed together”. And boy does this year’s Pink Flamingo stage line-up live up to that!

Pink Flamingo return for a second year hosting a stage at The Broadway pub for a Sunday afternoon of eclectic music genres. This fringe event will see more electric guitars, more accordions, more rock, more roll, more double bass and more new acts. Of the eight acts playing, four are Leigh Folk Festival debuts, including FUKD & BOMBD, Marine Mammal & The Locals, Mister Pockets and Stern John. Also on the bill, in no particular order, are Invaders, Bob Collum & the Welfare Mothers, Mucky Dennis and the Grifters and closing this year with The Ethan Wilson Band. It’s a line-up you’d be mad to miss!

Pink Flamingo started in 2007 with a monthly night at The Ship close to Leigh’s Old Town, having left the Grand Hotel where they ran a bi-weekly open mic for the previous two years. Once The Ship shut they moved to the Railway Hotel in 2017, building a reputation as a solid promotor who sought out a varied and eclectic choice of musicians and bands. Today Pink Flamingo resides in SAKS in Southend, hosting a gig on the first Saturday of each month.
